R’s Of The Moment : “KHON, The Precious Heritage.”
How fortunate it is to hold within oneself history; long with years and rich with culture. But no level of magnificence would matter without appreciation and preservation, for negligence and ignorance are the most dreadful enemy. And, to all the lucky races with heritages to show, to be proud of, and to chin high with pride, it has caused me beyond jubilant to count myself among those.
With the royal support from Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, we are granted an opportunity to witness the grandeur of our heritage through pair of eyes.
Long before, many Thais, including me, had only experienced the cultural performance through textbook and tales from the elders.
This year we are blessed again with two opportunities to learn about our own culture which could not be found in the classroom.
‘Khon Performance: The Battle Of Indrajit Episode of Nagabas’ is running from 7th November 2014 to 5th December 2015, please kindly find more information here: http://www.sub.khonperformance.com/
The other opportunity was ‘The Royal Khon Performance Wisdom Of The Kingdom’ exhibition which was held at Central Embassy last July. I was so overwhelmed by the greatness and the effort poured into the project, from the beginning through to this day. I would love to share some of the moment captured from the exhibition; with the hope to grant a glimpse into the world of Khon and to familiarise your eyes for the performance.
Let’s forbid the time from swallowing our heritage.
For those, who have no past, partially lose their future.
R.
